With the DX243BN18 Composite Bat, DeMarini pushes the limit to meet the increasing demand for durable Wood Bats. Actually, the name "Wood Bat" is misleading, as the DX243 features a thin layer of Canadian Hard Maple on the barrel with this being the only wood that is worked into the bat. The rest of the bat is made from high-grade composite materials. During construction, the maple barrel is hollowed out and filled with a composite rod. Rod and barrel are applied to the Composite handle of the bat and voila – the DX243 Composite Wood Bat that performs like a Wood Bat but offers increased durability.
